Breakout Studios Classes

All Breakout Studios classes are ongoing and you are welcome to drop in at any time!

Class Policies
Please arrive to on time to class.  Students who are ten minutes or more late will not be permitted into the studio.  All payments must be taken care of before entering class.  We reserve the right to pull students from class who have not paid.

Please discuss class placement with a studio manager prior to taking first class.  Our faculty have final say in class placement and level.

Dress Code
Hip Hop: Comfortable street clothes/ sneakers or tennis shoes
Tap: Form fitting dance clothes/ tap shoes
Jazz, Contemporary and Lyrical: Form fitting dance clothes/ jazz shoes or bare feet
Pre. Ballet: Pink tights/ Pink leotard/ pink ballet shoes
Jr. Ballet and Ballet: Pink tights/ Black leotard/ pink ballet shoes
Zumba and Dance Cardio: Comfortable workout clothes/ sneakers
West African Dance: Comfortable workout clothes/ bare feet or sneakers
Yoga: Form fitting and comfortable workout clothes/ bare feet

All group classes are also formatted for private instruction.  Please contact us if this is something you are interested in.

Class Descriptions

Hip Hop:
Urban dance movements taught to up beat, hight energy music. Movements are bouncy, fast and funky. Extremely foot oriented but uses isolation movements, popping and break-dancing. Great for the most serious dancers and those just wanting to have fun.

JAZZ:
A sharp focus on dance conditioning and alignment while improving jazz technique. Students will advance with their own ability levels through center work & progressions. Center choreography will be taught to sharpen performance and mobility skills.

Ballet:
In this style, students will be introduced to basic ballet fundamentals, including body alignment, vocabulary, and basic positions of the feet & arms. Students will move through barre, center work, & progressions which include basic turns, jumps, & leaps. Students will build on technique and learn more difficult/ advanced techniques as they progress through class levels.

Tap:
Students start with foot awareness, mobility and coordination. Dancers will then focus on tap fundamentals including basic tap steps, wings, cramp rolls, & pull backs. More advanced students will be given more advanced progressions to suit their skill levels with each specific class.

Lyrical:
Lyrical is a dance style that combines elements of ballet, modern, and Jazz dance techniques. It is commonly set to popular music with vocals or just instrumental bars. The goal of a lyrical dancer is to use gesture, facial expression, and controlled movements in order to execute their movements and emotions fully. Besides emotional connection to music, lyrical dance typically encourages use of articulation, line, weight, and movement qualities. Technique will progress as class levels increase.

Acting:
Basic acting technique and exercises taught in a fun setting. Students learn to trust each other and use each other as tool in their acting technique. Great class for dancers to learn performance/ expression skills.

Dance Cardio:
A choreographed step by step routine to help you get you to your best cardio workout. Fun, upbeat music will push you through this non-stopping thrill ride. This all levels class is for adults wanting a workout that feels unlike the norm of a gym or treadmill.

ZUMBA
Zumba combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations that allow the Zumba participants to dance away their worries. It is based on the principle that a workout should be "FUN AND EASY TO DO" allowing Zumba participants to stick to the Zumba Fitness program and achieve long-term health benefits. Zumba is a “feel-happy” workout that is great for both the body and the mind.

West African Dance
The vibration in class is high!  The intention of our dance is self-empowerment, self-love and connection to community.  The drums lead the way for the dancer’s hearts to blossom.  Learn authentic West African dances from Guinea while building community and getting a great workout!
